Dr. Nick Long, PT, CMTPT
Dr. Nick Long founded Somatic Physical Therapy in 2017 with the vision of providing superior health and wellness services as well as education for patients suffering from pain and functional limitations. Nick is well-known for his successful outcomes treating the chronic pain population and takes pride in promoting the lost art of the family doctor with a professional and courteous bedside-manner. Nick received his bachelor’s degree in 2007 and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2009 from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
While studying full-time for his undergraduate degree, Nick worked at Marquette University as a Teaching Assistant in the gross anatomy laboratory instructing students at the university, as well as a personal trainer specializing in biomechanical movement analysis. Nick excelled in evidence-based practice methods & earned The Marquette University Research Award in 2007 for his contributions to research in the field of exercise physiology as an undergraduate, and again as a graduate student in the field of physical therapy in 2009.
Nick has work experience in a multitude of physical therapy settings and is also qualified to perform neuro-diagnostic EMG & NCV testing for nerve injuries as well as dry needling for musculoskeletal pain patterns. Nick constantly pursues continuing education opportunities to advance his expertise and has achieved advanced certification as a Certified Manual Trigger Point Therapist. When Nick is not in the clinic, he enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, white-water rafting and playing guitar.
